Coppiceworks

Wood Working

My Story

Coppiceworks is the tradename used by Anthony (Tony) Scannell, derived from coppicing, an ancient art of cutting back trees, particularly hazel, to produce new growth and to extend the life of the tree.
From his own woodland, which he planted in 2005, in Kinsale, he coppices hazel to produce his hazel hiking sticks and to supply hazel stems, used for greenwood furniture by well known artist West Cork furniture maker Alison Ospina.
He also makes wood-turned items specialising in using wood grown in County Cork and collects wood from trees that have to be felled to reduce hazards or felled by storms.
