As part of the celebration of Heritage Week 2021, Kilcoe Studios will join Cork Craft & Design to host three straw craft workshops and demonstrations during Cork Craft Month. The aim of these workshops is to celebrate the importance of straw craft and its traditions.

This online workshop will give a brief introduction to Straw craft and then Sonia from Kilcoe Studios will demonstrate a few
basic techniques including ropemaking, braiding and decorative work . An email will be sent out to participants beforehand with information about any preparation that can be done. All the techniques we will do can be done using wild grasses, rushes and new zealand flax as well as straw that has been harvested by hand.
