As part of the celebration of Heritage Week 2021, Chapel Hill School of Art will join Cork Craft & Design to host a series of Heritage Craft events during Cork Craft Month.
One such event will be a workshop presented by James Horan, who is an experienced sculptor and tutor. Since leaving art school, James has worked solely in stone, mainly limestone and marble. In this workshop, he will show the ancient craft of stone carving by using traditional carving tools of chisel and mallet.
This modelling opportunity opens up the ancient craft of clay modelling to the public in a have-a -go, fun atmosphere.
Exploring the panes and features of the human face the aim of the workshop is to learn and enjoy ancient craft of carving in clay. Using one’s hands & carving tools with a traditional head modelling armature learn this 3 dimensional foundation skill for budding and experienced sculptors alike.
